Fine needle aspiration biopsy with ultrasound guidance

A fine needle aspiration (FNA) biopsy is a procedure used to remove a small sample of tissue from a lump or abnormal area in your body for examination under a microscope. It is a minimally invasive procedure that uses a very thin, hollow needle to collect the tissue sample. The needle is usually guided by ultrasound or another imaging method to ensure it reaches the correct area.


During the procedure, you may feel some pressure or a slight pinch, but it is generally well tolerated and does not require general anesthesia. FNA biopsies are commonly used to evaluate lumps or masses in areas such as the breast, thyroid, lymph nodes, or lungs.
