ICD insertion

ICD insertion is a procedure to place an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator, a small device positioned under the skin near the collarbone that monitors your heart's rhythm and delivers a controlled electric shock if a dangerous arrhythmia is detected. During the procedure, thin wires called leads are guided through blood vessels into the heart and connected to the device. It is performed under sedation, typically as an outpatient or with a short hospital stay. Most people recover within a few weeks and resume normal activities with regular follow-up to ensure the device is functioning properly.
