Coronary artery revascularization restores blood flow to the heart when the arteries supplying it have become blocked or narrowed, commonly to relieve chest pain or reduce the risk of a heart attack. It may be performed as angioplasty with stenting, which opens the artery using a balloon and small mesh tube, or as coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), which routes blood around the blockage using a vessel graft. The approach is chosen based on the number and location of blockages and your overall heart health. Most patients experience significant symptom improvement, and your care team will guide recovery and long-term heart care.
