Skin lesion removal is a procedure to remove an abnormal spot on the skin under 4 centimeters, such as a mole, cyst, lipoma, or suspicious growth. The area is numbed with local anesthetic, and the lesion is shaved off the surface or removed with a small excision depending on the type and depth of the growth. Stitches may or may not be needed depending on the size and location. Removed tissue may be sent to a laboratory for further examination if needed.
