Colonoscopy with surgery examines the inside of the large intestine using a thin, flexible camera and includes advanced therapeutic treatment during the same visit, such as removing large or complex polyps, controlling bleeding, or using specialized endoscopic techniques. This goes beyond a routine diagnostic exam and is chosen when significant intervention is needed at the time of the procedure. You will receive sedation, and bowel preparation the day before is required. Most patients go home the same day.
